Design A Better Outdoor Campaign – Part 1 of 3

From March until late fall of 2010 a “Better” outdoor bulletin campaign will run for Kansas City’s largest fence company as part of a regional mass media communication strategy. Being fortunate to have been entrusted to craft this visual message by advertising agency, Sandwiess Koster, I wanted to keep the good karma flowing to aspiring designers.

Via a three part series we will start with a recount of the path to production and a look at the design strategy behind this outdoor campaign. In Part 2 we will address design mechanics for outdoor printed media, and conclude with a deeper understanding of designing for the newer medium of outdoor digital media in Part 3. So, stay tuned for those updates in the weeks ahead. Now onto an explanation of the design strategy behind this recently created campaign.

Noble Fries Agency Web Tradition

I was recently impressed when I came across a bold direction that decorated food service advertising agency, Noble, in Springfield, Missouri took with their new online approach. It was intriguing enough that it caused me to take a closer look, dissect the footprint, and understand the logic.

Branding Obama : Director’s Cut

Regardless if you’re a fan of the Obama administration, you should admire the communication strategy behind his run for office. Sure its been discussed at great length, but in early February I caught a story much less told while attending a lecture by Sol Sender. Sender is now an Associate Partner at VSA in Chicago, and was the spearhead of the logo development process for President Obama’s 2008 historic [branded] campaign.
